About the Journal

Computing History Canada  (CHC) is an open access e-journal, dedicated to the history of computing and information technologies in Canada. The journal looks to publish research articles that deepen the understanding of the genesis, development and the social impact of these technologies in Canada.

Focused on providing a space for interdisciplinary inquiry, the journal encourages the submission of materials that explore the links between science and technology on the one hand and the cultural, social, economic, and political context on the other.

CHC recognizes that studies of the development of computing and information technologies in Canada cannot be confined within the country's borders and history narrowly defined. Research that engages with the transnational and comparative themes while addressing computing and information technologies in Canada is welcome.

Finally, CHC strongly encourages and supports scholars engaging with the history of computation and information processing among the Indigenous peoples and nations living within the territory of Canada.

To achieve its editorial mandate, CHC welcomes a variety of submission formats as specified in Submissions guidelines. All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team, although only some formats will be subjected to blind peer review.

The journal and the York University Computer Museum are also interested in supporting activities that encourage interest and engagement among a broader public in matters relating to the history of computing and information technologies. If you are interested in exploring a collaboration with the museum in these areas, please contact the museum directly.
